My little light being is growing up fast. Although there are days (ok, most days) where she tests every last ounce of my sanity, I’m learning how to be a mother, a caregiver, and a person who can continually return to a place of unconditional love just because that person (no matter how crazy she’s acting) needs it.
Perhaps that is the greater lesson we as parents are being taught on behalf of humanity: that at our core, we are all innocent beings in need of love no matter how thoughtless our actions, no matter how loud our outbursts, or no matter how nonsensical we may seem in any given moment. After all, each of us is still a child at heart. Our innocence was never lost, we have just forgotten it. If everyone could love and be loved unconditionally with the same passion we as mothers have for our children, perhaps this world could return to a state of peace knowing we are all safe, loved, and forever protected.
